Bio //Erin has a vibrant background as a community organizer, placemaker, preservationist, digital storyteller, educator, photographer, andpublic historian. Her work with immigrant communities and oft-overlooked neighborhoods of Milwaukee has been acknowledged by the American Association for State and Local History (2013, Award of Merit), Chicago’s Metropolitan Planning Council (2012, Runner-up, Space In Between: Placemaking Chicago Contest), and Americans for the Arts (2013, Best of Public Art Projects). She has extensive experience in historical surveys, archival research, ethnographic field work, oral history and documentary production for the Minnesota Humanities Center, Preservation Alliance of Minnesota, Wyoming State Historic Preservation Office, Wyoming Public Media, New York Folklore Society, Michigan State Historic Preservation Office, Historic Milwaukee, Inc. and the Anoka County Historical Society.
A native of rural southwest Michigan, with years of experience in urban environments, Erin believes that the most powerful role an individual can hold is participating in the process which determines the look, feel and character of the place in which they live.

Education //Erin holds an undergraduate degree in American studies and public history from the University of Minnesota - Twin Cities. She earned her master's at the University at Albany in a uniquely designed History and Media M.A. program while concurrently achieving a graduate certificate in documentary photography from the Salt Institute of Documentary Studies. She has taken this dual approach to her work as a historian and place-based multimedia producer to create several documentaries on topics as diverse as women’s independent wrestling, Cambodian-American culture in rural Maine, and Wisconsin’s vibrant tavern history.
